17th Century Italian Candlestick with Fossil Agate Coral & Pearls on Lucite
About the Item
17th century distressed Italian decorated church candlestick with fossil agate coral and natural forming baroque pearls on a lucite base.
The 17th century Italian distressed candlestick originally came from a church in Florence, Italy. Fossil agate coral is Florida's state stone and is known for its unique formation that can take place over 20 million years. It's a natural gemstone that is created when prehistoric coral is gradually replaced with agate.
The Italian church candlestick artifact, fossil agate coral, and baroque pearl are put together in a sculptural form - creating a piece that appears to have evolved together over time. Interpreting the past to create a piece entirely original, evolving in its own right.
