About the Item
Vintage handmade Art Deco candlestick is an original decorative object realized between the 1930s and the 1940s.
Original silver plate brass.
Marked "S, Bez. handarbeit" and numbered no. 1244 on the base.
Good conditions: Vintage signs of aging.
Very beautiful and bright manufacture realized in silver plate brass, marked and signed on the base. The work presents a trifolium: Two rounded arms on a curved base, raised and merged in the middle. Cylindrical candle spouts, structured edges and cylindrical vats.
The work presents the typical forms and style of the Art Deco period of the first decades of the 20th century, a style of visual arts, architecture and design that first appeared in France just before World War I. New Industrial materials began to influence design of cars and household objects. These included aluminium and balakite, an early form of plastic.
