Rare Antique English Sterling Silver Postage Stamp Box by Grey & Co.

About the Item

A stunning and rare Edwardian triple postage stamp box made from solid English sterling silver fully hallmarked for London 1909 together with the makers mark for the top notch silversmith's, Grey & Co. of London. Grey & Co was noted for their novelties in silver and supplied retail establishments such as Asprey & Co (London) and P. Orr & Sons (Madras, Rangoon & Calcutta). The circular box stands of three scroll legs with complimentary scrolls to the top. There are three compartments each with a heart shaped aperture each with a different Edward Vll stamp. The lids have strong hinges allowing them to remain upright when opened and then snap shut. The interior retains it's original gilded finish and each of the heart apertures is backed in leather. Excellent condition with minor wear commensurate with age. 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 3". A Fine and highly collectible box. Item: 42151.
