Hand painted Dutch platter
By Delft
Located in AMSTERDAM, NH
Stunning Delft Blue 18.5" Diameter Wall Platter. This blue Delft collectible wall plate is exquisitely decorated with the typical parrakeets and floral theme of the Velsen Aardewerkfabriek Sassenheim in Holland. It is rimmed with classic Delft flowers and stylized designs around the perimeter. The plate is clearly marked VLS ( DELFT BLAUW HAND PAINTED MADE IN HOLLAND) on the back.

After the war the factory started to produce mainly handpainted Delftware, both in blue & white and polychrome styles. Especially the polychrome style became its strength, because Velsen used a wider and more colourful palette of colours than most other Delftware producers. Velsen also made green Delft (green & white) and red Delft...
