About the Item

Extraordinary very large contemporary Imari Porcelain vase, extremely intricately hand painted in vivid red and blue, a masterpieces by master porcelain artist of the Imari-Arita region of Japan’s (1931-2009). This master artist was admired for his depiction of scenes of nature and intricate geometric patterns. His legacy lives on through his two sons, acclaimed porcelain artists in their own right, each of whom specializes in one aspect of their father’s style. This artist was the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his exceptional work and unique contributions to this centuries old art. The charger showcases a stunning view of paths crisscrossing across the body of the charger starting at the base and climbing to the top. Castles represented in deep blue randomly dot the scene. Cherry trees showing off their blossom-laden branches rise to the very top, with red extremely detailed blossoms in full bloom covering the whole body of this extraordinary piece, and castles appear all along the path. Cherry blossom and castle is a beloved pattern in Japan and can be found together in poetry, paintings, woodblock prints. The reverse side of this breathtaking piece showcases a stunning karakusa pattern in underglaze blue, while delicate cherry blossom in red surround the artist's signature in the center of the reverse side.
