English Minton Aesthetic Movement Majolica Frog and Mushroom Pedestal Vide-Poche

From Minton, a wonderful and extremely scarce majolica glazed pedestal Vide-Poche bowl, in the Palissy style, dated 1867, 19th century From the Aesthetic period, the bowl, modeled as an inverted mushroom, shows an ombre glaze of creamy white to a soft pink. The interior shows an unexpected deep orange glaze. Three naturalistically modeled frogs surround the mushroom stem and sit on a round, rocky base with leaves from various water plants. A turquoise glazed underside showing the makers mark. Impressed: Minton, a date code for 1867, and the impressed mold number 6011 Measures: 5.0 in. diameter x 4.25 in. height Excellent antique conditions.
