Georg Jensen Sterling Silver "Louvre" Pedestal Bowl

About the Item

Done by noted silversmith Georg Jensen, this early example of his iconic "Louvre" bowl bears his early markings and dates to 1915-1925. The "Louvre" bowl was first designed and presented to the Louvre in 1914 and combines a very complimentary mix of Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau styles. Composed of sterling silver and hand-hammered, this early example of Jensen's "Louvre" bowl has an engraved inscription around the underside of the base, presumed to be from a presentation.
