Zaccagnini Majolica Planter, circa 1950
$295

About
A handcrafted plant pot holder by the Zaccagnini pottery. This lovely piece is styled as a cylinder of plain white columns under a plain edge, sporting two highly detailed bunches of grapes and leaves. Earthenware or terracotta with a semi-opaque rustic white glaze, the grapes are highlighted with Teal blue.
The whole is a typical expression of Zaccagnini's theatrical, whimsical detailing.
This dates from the period of Bandini's sculptural work for Zaccagnini. It is finely made. Note the grape stalks, each carefully crafted to enhance the realism and delicacy of the piece.
Internal diameter 14.5 cm, internal height 13.5
In very fair condition, note a few minor chips here and there but does not detract from its rustic appeal. See images.
