Sculpture of Dian Fossey by John Raimondi made of Steel, 10.5' tall, 1987
Dom Paragon is proud to represent World renowned Sculptor John Raimondi. "Dian" is one of my personal favorites of his creations. It was made in honor of Zoologist and Animal Rights Activist Dian Fossey (1932-1985). Famous for her studies and protection of Gorillas in the Rwandan mountain Forest and her book "Gorillas in the Mist"(1983), that was turned into a successful movie starring Sigourney Weaver. The actual sculpture measures 10' 9" in height and 44" wide and is constructed out of stainless steel and is polished to a mirror finish. The larger than life figure represents the heroine for the Apes, the narrow tip pointing to the sky her Spirit eternal. Below, under her protection, you find the shape of a Gorilla anchored to her feet. I can spend hours gazing at this beautiful sculpture from every angle and never tire.
