Art Deco Hand Rubbed Oak Pedestal with Exotic Green Rotating Marble Top
About the Item
This stately Art Deco pedestal was realized in the United States, circa 1940. It features banded cylindrical supports at each corner- resembling doric columns- that offer carved stylized acanthus details at the tops. These corner supports descend into the legs of the pedestal, which subtly flare at their base. The rectangular body has raised forms of the same shape on each side as well as a square top all crafted in hand rubbed oak. There is a second square form in exotic green marble that rotates, making an ideal surface on which to present any sculpture or precious object. With its classically inspired form and luxurious materials, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Deco to contemporary. It has been restored to mint condition.
American, circa 1940
