Georgian Polished Steel Firegrate, circa 1800

About the Item

This fine grate is an ideal size for domestic use. The serpentine shape is especially desirable. The fire basket is flanked by a pair of columnar pedestals with large finials, and has a beautiful applied frieze with pierced cutwork decoration. Although steel, it is gracefully put together and has a pleasing lightness We feel that this grate is early.
