Super Large Antique Italian Rococo Carved Wood "Supra Porte'. This monumental 18th Century ornament is 2 meters wide! Beautiful A-symmetrically carved Pinewood and Basswood with C-Scrolls and flower ornaments, with original partially silverleaf and polychrome patina in brown, beige and green colour tones. HIghly decorative against a large wall or to be used as a spectacular headboard / bedboard for instance! Measures: H 164 x W 201 cm.

    Sommevoire France, 1880-1885, cast-iron This cast-iron statue was made by Antoine Durenne in the late 19th century. Durenne got his education at l’Ecole des Arts et Metiers in Angers and at l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He graduated in 1842 and in 1847 he bought a small foundry in the picturesque village of Sommevoire. He is best known for his animal sculptures. Nowadays his work can still be admired in public spaces, like parks. This statue shows Cupid seated on a panther. Cupid, son of Venus and god of love, can be recognized by his arrows and wings. The same statue was placed in Blossac Park (French: Parc de Blossac), a historic private garden and now a public park, in Poitiers, France.
