Vintage Chinese Hand-Carved White Stone Temple Sculpture of a Bodhisattva

About the Item

A large Chinese vintage hand-carved white stone Buddhist temple sculpture of a bodhisattva. This large size Chinese sculpture was carved from a white stone and showcases a bodhisattva holding a perfume pot. A bodhisattva is someone capable of reaching Nirvana but who delays doing so in order to help others. The character is adorned with layers of rich, flowing clothing and jewels and stands in front of a backdrop of carved billowing clouds or scrolls. In his right hand he holds a vessel which might carry oil or perfume. This vintage Chinese stone temple sculpture would be a commanding decorative presence in any room, perhaps in a living room or foyer where it would add a touch of serenity.
