Junichiro Sekino Limited Edition Double Oban Rare Japanese Woodblock Print, 1978

US$1,999

About

A very rare and extremely scarce, limited edition woodblock print by Japanese master printer Junichiro Sekino. This from a series of rooftops he did throughout the world. It's hard to find large, double Oban size and unique image (we could not find another matching one) make it a must for collectors of his work. This print is stamped, pencil signed, dated (1978) and numbered (59/128) by the artist. Junichiro Sekino was largely considered, along with Kiyoshi Saito, to be one of Japan's paramount 20th century master print artists. Both were prominent leaders of the Sosaku Hanga movement. Sekino's works can be found in many museums including: The Museum of Modern Art, N. Y., the Art Institute Chicago, the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, the British Museum and the Portland Art Museum among many other fine museums throughout the world. Would be a fantastic addition to any modern Japanese print collection or eye-catching stand-alone work. The print was professionally framed by Kato Framing gallery in Tokyo (in a very heavy, solid frame). Framed dimensions: High 43.5", 31.5" wide, 1.25" deep.
