Japan, a fine restored two-panel screen Byobu of simple brush strokes on cream ground silk, in a serene, peaceful mood of a scholar among bamboo with mountains plus a serene water fall. It dates Taisho 7, (1918) It is signed Kougyou. Enticing and unusual subject matter, this simple rendition is skillfully and tastefully rendered in mineral paint pigments on silk. The red lacquered wood perfectly frames this calming and tasteful early 20th century composition. Tastefully mounted. Overall fine condition with authentic professional Japanese restoration techniques using authentic Japanese materials. Dimensions: 68.25 inches high and 74 inches wide extended.
