Japanese 8-panel screen of flowering peonies A remarkable and rare low screen with each panel featuring an exuberant display of glorious multicolored peonies. The gold maki-e background centered with branches of blooming red, pink and white peonies with rich verdant leaves, within a lacquered frame with bronze mounts engraved with conforming scrolling peony foliage. Known in Japan as the King of Flowers the peony is a symbol of good fortune, bravery and honour. In very good condition, restorations appropriate to the age, this beautiful screen would make a wonderful addition to your collection.
