Chinese Export Kangxi Period Teapot Hand Painted Imari Pattern, Circa 1710

About the Item

This is a very good early Chinese Teapot and matching cover from the Qing Dynasty, Kangxi period ( 1662 to 1722) which we date to Circa 1710. The teapot has a globular form on a short foot-rim, with a curved "C" handle, and straight spout. The cover is slightly curved and overhanging with a knob having a rounded pointed top. The teapot is beautifully hand decorated. The "Imari" palette has varying shades of under-glaze blue and over-glaze red pigments with gold gilt highlights. The pattern is intricate and includes a central willow tree with flowers to one side sat in a floral rock formation, with a fence , all in a garden setting. The pattern is enhanced with gold gilded detail as per the images. The cover has a matching pattern with further detail to the outer part of the handle and lower spout. There are no markings to the base. In summary a very beautiful Chinese teapot from the Qing, Kangxi period.
