Japanese Blue Platinum Porcelain Vase by Master Artist, 2

About the Item

Extraordinary Japanese Contemporary museum-quality large hand-gilded hand-painted porcelain vase/centerpiece, an exhibition piece by master porcelain artist of the Kutani region of Japan featuring extensive high purity platinum gilding set against his signature deep blue (2017). This artist is a second-generation porcelain artist who spent most of his life working within the confines of the Ko-Kutanti (old Kutani) tradition of colors and designs. Upon turning 60, he forswore the world of tradition and had since dedicated himself to freely expressing his vision of life and nature, a pursuit that has given birth to stunningly expressive designs and colors. The artist’s profile is available upon request. This outstanding piece is entitled Kagero (gossamer) and is inspired by the 10th century masterpiece of Japanese literature, Diary of the Gossamer Years, the memoirs of a noblewoman in the imperial court of Heian Japan and an ode to the transience of love and of life.
