Pair of 19th Century Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Cap Jars, circa 1825

About the Item

Pair of large early 19th century Chinese blue and white porcelain cap jars. The jars retaining the original lids with guardian lions. Landscape motif decorations of good detail complete with pavilions, mountains, bridges and people. Old brass covers to the edge surfaces of the top of the jars and lids. Chinese characters inscribed around the interior rims of both jars. Heavy porcelain foot and bold form, circa 1825.

    Repaired: SEE DESCRIPTION AND PHOTOS. THESE ARE STABLE AND COSMETICALLY GOOD. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Old repairs with some losses on the base of the guardian lions on the tops. Chips to the underside of one cap. Several cracks on the body of one jar, permanently stabilized, (cracks not breaks with mends). No fillers or over painted hidden repairs.
