Authentic 1960’s Auto Racing Uniform Suit

About the Item

Start your engines! Rev the clutch! And get ready to take off in a ‘Beach Racing’ uniform. Worn by an automobile racer in the 1960’s, this ensemble would be a fun look to reinvent for modern day casual wear. The cotton fabric is akin to a lightweight pale blue denim or oxford cloth with a racer style zip front jacket and relaxed (though slim) cut pants. The details are really fun including an asymmetrical tab collar, a vented back, velcro ankle cuffs and unique flat front hip pockets. Appropriate for unisex wear due to small size and slim cut. CONDITION This is an authentic uniform that was worn many times and then cleaned and stored for decades. It shows honest wear and use including various smudges and old stains from working around and driving race cars but to some extent that is part of the fun though it might not appeal to everyone. The ribbed cuffs on jacket and elasticized inserts at waistband pants show wear and have lost some of their stretch. The back of the pants waistband has what appears to be a vent though it is a tear at a button hole which would have held down the back of the jacket, please see photograph 14. The zipper on the jacket works but is a little finicky. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS The jacket is marked a men's size 36 and best fits a woman’s size 4 with attention to the following measurements. For visual reference, the mannequin in the photographs is a size 4.
