  • 1980s Andre Laug Couture Multi-Coloured Sequinned Dress
    By André Laug
    Located in London, GB
This 1980s Italian haute couture / alta moda design from Andre Laug appears to be the runway worn dress as it features some additional sewn-in tabs that indicate a collection and design number. The entirely sequined gown is unusual and we would described the tones as an artist's colour palette in that each sequin is printed in orange, yellow, green blue, black and white. The sequins slightly overlay each other like fish scales. From a distance, the sequins collude to give an almost impressionistic or pointillism look and it reminds us of the work of Georges Seurat. It has an asymmetrical neckline and the bodice has been darted with ruching the opposite side to the shoulder strap. It is a full-length sheath style that fastens to the rear with the original centre back zip and a hook and eye. It's an old runway size so best fit for a present-day UK 10 or US 6. It is backed onto an Eau de Nil silk satin and the dress is fully lined in quality acetate. It's in excellent vintage condition. There is just the tiniest amount of sequin loss very close to one side seam. If desired, there is a multitude of sequins in the hem that could be used as replacements however it is virtually unnoticeable. NOTES ON DESIGNER: André Laug was a chic but conservative designer renowned for his impeccable and timeless tailoring. His catwalk shows are remembered for his beautifully tailored, comfortable daywear and classic, elegant eveningwear. At the beginning of his career in the 1960s he designed for Nina Ricci and Courreges in Paris. After branching out on his own, he ran a successful haute couture and ready to wear fashion house in Rome from the 1970s until his death in 1984. Among his A-list clients were Audrey Hepburn, American First Ladies Jackie Kennedy and Barbara Bush...

  • 1950s Diana Warren White Tulle Dress With Ribbon Appliqué
    By Diana Warren
    Located in London, GB
A beautiful and timeless original 1950s pure white tulle ribbon appliqué work dress from high-end British boutique label Diana Warren. Classic scoop neck, cap sleeves, a fitted bodice and pleating to the waist, the dress is adorned all over in scrolling ribbon appliqué work over a net overlay. The underskirt lining is a lightweight acetate with a net mid layer. The dress fastens at the back with a metal zip and is styled in the photos without a petticoat. The fullness of the skirt will allow a petticoat of several layers if desired to further accentuate the waist and hips. Truly excellent vintage condition - we have been unable to find a single hole in the lace and all the ribbon is intact. This would be a beautiful vintage bridal dress...
