Gallery Boralevi started in Venice in 1930 thanks to Tina Boralevi, antiques expert with a wide knowledge of antique textiles. But it was thanks to her son Bruno that the gallery gained appreciation all over the world. Importante tappeto di produzione contemporanea realizzato interamente a mano in Afganistan, che si ispira ai famosi tappeti “mamelucchi”. Si chiamano mamelucchi i tappeti di manifattura egiziana, probabilmente del Cairo, tessuti nell’ultimo periodo del Sultanato omonimo che regnò su Egitto, Siria e Palestina dal 1250 al 1517, quando fu sconfitto dalle truppe dell’Impero Ottomano nel momento della sua massima espansione. Il disegno tipico di questi manufatti è caratterizzato da una ricca ornamentazione ad effetto caleidoscopico, con una gran varietà di motivi caratteristici come le piccole foglioline ad ombrello che alcuni identificano come foglie di papiro, pianta tipicamente egiziana. Altra caratteristica di questi tappeti è che il loro complesso e intricato disegno è realizzato con una ristretta gamma cromatica, normalmente di tre sole tonalità: il rosso, il verde e il blu. Il nostro tappeto è una rilettura in chiave moderna e utilizza una lana lucente che valorizza i colori acquamarina e bordò, creando un particolare effetto di chiaro scuro.
