1950s Worth Demi Couture Black Silk Chiffon Dress
By House of Worth
Located in London, GB
A timeless and original 1950s evening dress by the grandfather of Haute Couture, the House of Worth. This piece has the British demi-couture label sewn in which represents the highest level of ready to wear clothing. The dress is a combination of machine stitching and hand sewing. It has two layers - the underdress being a soft black silk overlaid with a chiffon silk that has been heat treated to give it a slightly textured look. The construction is magnificent - there is a wide scoop neck and to the left hand side, a dainty shoulder bow made of the same chiffon. The dress has an additional draped half panel...

Vintage 1930's Worth Couture Black Crepe Sculpted Royal-Blue Chiffon Sash Gown
By House of Worth
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
This classically gorgeous dress, dating back to the late 1930's, is made by the legendary House of Worth. Charles Frederick Worth died in 1895, when Jean-Philippe became head designer. For at least ten years prior to his father's death, Jean-Philippe designed alongside Charles. Paul Poiret considered Jean-Philippe to be a more creative couturier than his famous father. In 1924, with the House now operated by grandson Jacques Worth, it ventured into the perfume market as well. This stunning garment is fashioned in rich jet-black high quality mid weight silk-crepe. I adore the unique royal-blue silk chiffon ruched bib-bodice that flows into a unique twisted-knit sash waist. The sculpted cap-sleeve design adds the perfect touch. The lower skirt is added in pointed inset seamed pieces typical of the time period and insanely hard to do. This figure flattering garment accentuates the bust, skims the hip and flares out in a true full-length. Here is a look with attitude and elegant. Measurements Bust:33-34 inches Waist:27 inches Hips:36 inches Total Length:60 inches This late 1930's House of Worth couture...

What a cloisonné piece is worth will depend on what type of piece it is, its condition, rarity and more.

Cloisonné (“cell” in French) is a technique in which thin wires of fine silver or gold are used to outline a design, which is then filled with enamel. The piece is subsequently placed in a kiln where the enamel is melted. Cloisonné is distinct because the individual wires remain visible, forming an outline of the motif. When it comes to jewelry design and other disciplines, cloisonné enamel was popular during the Byzantine Empire

Collectors of authentic antique Chinese furniture and decorative objects know that Ming dynasty-era cloisonné objects are particularly coveted. Although ornamentation was minimal at the time, Ming dynasty furniture often featured carved or painted details of flowers, insects, dragons, fruits and other motifs.

As overseas trade expanded, techniques from the West, like cloisonné enamel painting, adorned table screens and other pieces. With respect to Ming-era cloisonné objects and furnishings, an elaborately decorated item featuring lots of vibrant colors and details is likely to be more valuable at auction than its minimally adorned counterpart (the same goes for Victorian cloisonné objects). Chinese cloisonné vases created during the Ming and Qing eras represent a golden age of Chinese furniture design.

Chinese cloisonné objects were frequently imported to Japan, where the technique wasn’t adopted until the 1800s. Although it was a time of societal and cultural shifts, a bolstered interest in art and design elevated Japanese craft traditions during the Meiji era, and today, Meiji-era cloisonné vases or incense burners in good condition are of great interest to collectors.

Find antique and vintage cloisonné objects on 1stDibs.
  • Large oils are worth many millions of dollars. The value would depend on the size, composition, and importance of the piece. Because Renoir painted many small scale oils a small simple landscape or figure study in oils could be bought for around $100,000 +

A light blue 0.5 carat diamond is worth roughly $26,280 on average. A deep blue 0.25 diamond, costs $75,000 on average. Blue diamonds are the rarest color of diamond, only found in three areas of the world: Australia, South Africa, and India. The deeper the blue diamonds are even more rare and therefore more expensive.

A kewpie doll’s worth is determined by its size and material used. A 10-inch Kewpie with a bisque head, composition body, and glass eyes is worth $6,500 while a 20-inch doll is valued at $20,000. Many of the original, small-sized German-produced bisque Kewpies range from $200–$500. Check out the different Kewpie dolls on 1stDibs.

An opal's value is determined based on a set of characteristics. Namely, the type of opal, body tone, brilliance, pattern, color bar thickness, play of color, and faults are taken into account by an appraiser when determining the value of the stone. Typically, black or dark bodied opals are regarded as more valuable than those with a light body tone.

Whether or not you decide to buy certified diamonds is totally your choice, as certified diamonds aren't necessarily better than non-certified ones. However, people tend to gravitate towards certified diamonds because retailers prefer to sell them, which, in turn, promises a specific quality.
