1950s Worth Demi Couture Black Silk Chiffon Dress
By House of Worth
Located in London, GB
A timeless and original 1950s evening dress by the grandfather of Haute Couture, the House of Worth. This piece has the British demi-couture label sewn in which represents the highest level of ready to wear clothing. The dress is a combination of machine stitching and hand sewing. It has two layers - the underdress being a soft black silk overlaid with a chiffon silk that has been heat treated to give it a slightly textured look. The construction is magnificent - there is a wide scoop neck and to the left hand side, a dainty shoulder bow made of the same chiffon. The dress has an additional draped half panel...

Vintage 1930's Worth Couture Black Crepe Sculpted Royal-Blue Chiffon Sash Gown
By House of Worth
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
This classically gorgeous dress, dating back to the late 1930's, is made by the legendary House of Worth. Charles Frederick Worth died in 1895, when Jean-Philippe became head designer. For at least ten years prior to his father's death, Jean-Philippe designed alongside Charles. Paul Poiret considered Jean-Philippe to be a more creative couturier than his famous father. In 1924, with the House now operated by grandson Jacques Worth, it ventured into the perfume market as well. This stunning garment is fashioned in rich jet-black high quality mid weight silk-crepe. I adore the unique royal-blue silk chiffon ruched bib-bodice that flows into a unique twisted-knit sash waist. The sculpted cap-sleeve design adds the perfect touch. The lower skirt is added in pointed inset seamed pieces typical of the time period and insanely hard to do. This figure flattering garment accentuates the bust, skims the hip and flares out in a true full-length. Here is a look with attitude and elegant. Measurements Bust:33-34 inches Waist:27 inches Hips:36 inches Total Length:60 inches This late 1930's House of Worth couture...

House of Worth Haute Couture Colorful Velvet Scenic Buttons Tails Jacket, 1890
By House of Worth
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
This 1890 House of Worth embroidered colorful leaf motif silk-velvet bodice jacket is in a class of its own. Established in 1858, Charles Worth's Paris fashion salon soon attracted European royalty and is credited with revolutionizing the business of fashion. He was the first to use live models in order to promote his garments to clients and sew branded labels into his clothing. This breathtaking garment is fashioned from textured multi-colored floral leaf motif silk-velvet and chantilly-lace trim. The velvet appears abstract at first glance but as you look closer, the exotic floral motif draws the viewer in with its highly-stylized pattern. The gorgeous hand-painted scenic novelty island buttons are a work of art in their own right. The design perfectly captures the beginning of the Art Nouveau aesthetic. Such a sumptuous presentation with the short front and dramatic back tails silhouette. This is an extraordinary example of Victorian beauty and special find for the serious collector. A rare piece of fashion history in museum quality. Measurements Bust:32-33 inches Waist:24 inches Front Length:23 inches Back Length With Tails:36 inches This House of Worth Haute...
