By Phil Marco
Located in New York, NY
Aluminum mounted giclee archival print. Sits about an inch off the wall. ABOUT THE ARTIST Marco studied fine art at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League in New York. New York Times photography critic Gene Thornton called Marco “a Minimalist, whose images are sensual, whimsical, often surreal, always strong, and deceptively simple.” “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Phil Marco on a number of my films. Phil is a man of extraordinary talents. It seems that his passion is to take an everyday object or event, and show it in an entirely new and exciting way.” Martin Scorsese. Phil’s work is represented in MOMA, The Museum of the Moving Image, and The George Eastman Museum of Photography. His first photographs were studies for his paintings, before he launched a career in print advertising. He eventually became a Director / DP for film and television for a vast base of national and international clients with his wife Patricia as Partner and Producer. In the 1980’s and 90’s Phil was the go to person for Special Effects in Television and Cinema, also best known for his graphic conceptual still lives, and his consummate mastery of lighting, and design. He’s won many awards for his work, including numerous Cannes Lions, Cleo’s, a Grammy for his print work on the legendary “Tommy the Who...

In Memory of You, #6, 2021
By Debra Smith
Located in West Des Moines, IA
Debra Smith's fabric collages are like snippets of contemporary quilts. She recycles fabrics, such as the silk linings of antique Japanese kimonos used to make much of her current body of work. The silks are different shades of neutral and lend a quiet, contemplative mood to much of Debra's work. In some collages, Debra uses vibrant vintage fabric to contrast with the understated feel of the silk. Since 1999, Debra's work has been shown in numerous exhibition spaces, such as Dolphin Gallery and Pearl Gallery in Kansas City and the Pencil Factory in Brooklyn, New York. In addition to making artwork, Debra owns Sakiori, a textile company based in Kansas City, which she established in 1993. She formerly worked for Asiatica, an internationally recognized clothing and accessory business, which specializes in the reconstruction of antique kimono...

Located in Phoenix, AZ
cut glass, aluminum, LED lights For over thirty years Dominique Blain has examined and addressed the links between relationships of domination, such as racism, mass indoctrination, genocide, war, exploitation, and imperialism. “People often ask why I, a white North American woman from Montréal, get involved when I have no experience of war, “ Blain says. “The question surprises me because I’m in a position to take a stand.” Her most recent body of work pursues the bleakest and harshest subject matter, including the vast and diverse body of masterpiece works that have been victims of theft, looting, or destruction. Those works include Afghanistan’s Bamiyan Buddhas, which were dynamited by the Taliban in 2001, as well as a Haida mask...
