Claude Champy Vases and Vessels

French, b. 1944

Claude Champy was born in France in 1944. A graduate of the Paris School of Crafts, Champy worked in production in a faience factory before building his first wood oven at Plaisir. At the end of 1972, he left the factory permanently to devote himself entirely to his work. In 1975, he took part in the exhibition "18 artists and the earth" in Saint-Rémy de Provence, Noëlla Gest gallery. He is one of the internationally recognized French ceramists. In 1988, Champy received the Grand Prize at the Suntory Museum in Tokyo.
