Girona Pause - Realistic Architectural Oil Painting
By Carol Pylant
Located in Chicago, IL
Throughout this piece Pylant explores the concept of impossible spaces, by creating urban scenes that blend into nature, creating portals within the artwork. The juxtaposition of urban and natural gives the artwork a surreal sense that immerses the viewer with a comforting sense of familiarity. By incorporating scenes of the present with imagery from past memories, Pylant develops a dialogue between past and future, creating a compelling and striking image that completely absorbs the viewer in its serene beauty. Moreover, the artist often combines imagery from her travels to Italy, Spain and throughout Europe with memories of her childhood home in North Carolina. The artwork is framed in a silver wooden frame measuring 32 x 42 inches. Carol S. La Prima Pietra-Ancient Architectural Arched Doorways Leading to Lush Landscape
By Carol Pylant
Located in Chicago, IL
Meticulously rendered stone archways lead to a stone path meandering into a lush landscape in Carol Pylant's stunning architectural painting entitled "La Prima Pietra". The pristine space suggest inner solitude and peace. This calm continues through the archway and into the rich green landscape beyond the walls. The artist often combines imagery from her travels to Italy, Spain and throughout Europe with memories of elsewhere. The artwork is framed in a heavy black wooden frame with a silver inset adding to the richness of the piece. It measures 36.5 x 42.5 inches framed. Carol S. Uscita - Large Scale Trompe L'oeil Gardenscape Inspired by Ancient Roman Frescos
By Carol Pylant
Located in Chicago, IL
"Uscita" takes Inspiration from ancient Italian frescos originally found at the Villa di Livia outside of Rome. The trompe l'oeil frescos were from a subterranean room used for dining. The lush gardens gave the dinner guests the illusion of dining alfresco. Here Pylant took particular notice of the flora and fauna painted over 2000 years ago only to discover they were species that were also present at her then North Carolina studio. The artist adds an architectural element to the gardenscape to suggest a portal from the past into the present. This exploration of the ancient world and its connection to the present is a central theme running through Pylant's work. Carol S. Pylant Uscita oil and acrylic on canvas 40h x 62w in 101.60h x 157.48w cm CSP035 CAROL PYLANT Resume Title Artist / Emeritus Professor, University of Wisconsin-Madison Education 1979 M.F.A. La Villa di Livia V, Gardenscape Taken from Ancient Roman Frescos, Oil on Paper
By Carol Pylant
Located in Chicago, IL
In this series, the artist takes Inspiration from ancient Italian frescos originally found at the Villa di Livia outside of Rome. The frescos are from the subterranean room used for dining. The lush gardens gave the dinner guests the illusion of dining alfresco. This exploration of the past and its connection to the present is a central theme running through Pylant's work. Here Pylant takes particular notice of the flora and fauna which was also present at her then North Carolina studio. This work is framed and measures 14.75h x 14w inches. Carol S. Pylant La Villa di Livia V oil on paper 6h x 6w in 15.24h x 15.24w cm CSP010 CAROL PYLANT Resume Title Artist / Emeritus Professor, University of Wisconsin-Madison Education 1979 M.F.A. Redempcio - Ancient Architectural Arched Doorways Leading to Misty Landscape
By Carol Pylant
Located in Chicago, IL
Meticulously rendered stone archways lead to a stone path meandering into a lush landscape in Carol Pylant's stunning architectural painting entitled "Redempcio". The pristine space suggest inner solitude and peace. This calm continues through the archway and into the lush, misty landscape beyond the walls. The artist often combines imagery from her travels to Italy, Spain and throughout Europe with memories of elsewhere. The artwork is framed in a simple black wooden frame measuring 9.5 x 9.5 inches framed. Carol S.
Carol S. Echo, Lush Tropical Scene with Pond and Peacock, Original Oil on Linen, Framed
By Carol Pylant
Located in Chicago, IL
The lush green landscape and strolling white peacock invites us to explore. This tranquil scene is that of Mexico yet upon closer look, the artist has offered another landscape - that of North Carolina where the water cascading over the rocks was embedded on her imagination. Combining the two into a new reality for us to explore is the mastery of Carol Pylant's work . The meticulously rendered detail gives the painting a photo realist quality. This painting is framed in a simple black frame measuring h 21.5h x 31.5w inches. Carol S. Pylant Echo oil on linen 20h x 30w in 50.80h x 76.20w cm CSP038 Resume Artist / Emeritus Professor, University of Wisconsin-Madison Education 1979 M.F.A. Ballerina of Time, Classic Italian Piazza with Lone Dog, Landscape Oil Painting
By Carol Pylant
Located in Chicago, IL
The sun casts a long shadow turning the meticulously rendered Italian courtyard into a glow of warm light. The lone dog in the foreground along with a solitary rose on the ground suggest inner solitude and peace. This calm, however, is off-set by the fiery views of the landscape beyond the archway. The artist often combines imagery from her travels to Italy and throughout Europe with memories of her childhood in the mountains of North Carolina and a fire she can never forget. Carol S.
