Black, Starr & Gorham sterling silver trumpet vase in palace size. Very majestic in its proportions, it displays a beautiful monogram and a gadrooned rim around the body. It measures an impressive 21 3/4'' in height by 8'' in diameter at the top, is weighted, and bears hallmarks as shown.
The oldest continuously operating jewelry firm in the United States, Black, Starr & Frost also produced objects in silver. Already in 1860, the company received an order for more than $12,000 of jewelry and silverware from Edward, Prince of Wales. In 1929, Black, Starr & Frost merged with Gorham Corporation, and was renamed Black, Starr, Frost-Gorham.
