Adolf Konrad

Adolf Konrad was born in Germany in 1915 and settled in New Jersey. He was teaching there and producing a series of paintings that were exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Whitney Museum and others. Some of Konrad's paintings are suggestive of Edward Hopper's depictions of urban streetscapes, and here, one sees a pair of dilapidated Second Empire row houses through the studio window.
