German Ruhr Area Mining Tower - Outdoor Barbecue Charcoal Grill- Garden Ornament

21st Century

About the Item

This extraordinary reminiscence of the German Ruhr region is a fully functional swivel barbecue / barbeque. A massive goods wagon, or rather the mine car, serves here as a charcoal grill. The swivelling grill is attached to chains and hovers above the embers. By means of a crank on the pit frame, the grill grate can be raised to the desired height and fixed there. On 21 December 2018, the Prosper-Haniel mine in Bottrop, Germany, closed its last active coal mine. For us, the winding tower, or rather the double trestle, the two-tier winding frame or also the Eiffel Tower of the Ruhr region, is the most striking monument to industrial culture. The most famous example of structural change in the Ruhr region is the Zollverein Colliery in Essen, Germany. The central shaft XII of today's UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein was declared a listed building (historic preservation) in December 1986 after its closure, followed by the rest of the site in 2000. Until its closure in 1986, up to 8,000 miners were employed above and below ground in shift changes. Today, the Zollverein Foundation promotes culture and heritage conservation with numerous cultural events and exhibitions. In addition, the premises of the shaft and the coking plant are home to numerous companies from the creative and innovation industries as well as the Zukunfts Zentrum Zollverein (Zollverein Future Centre). The Ruhr Museum is the regional museum of the Ruhr region and shows the natural and cultural history of the area. In addition, other institutions such as the Red Dot Museum with the world's largest exhibition of contemporary design or the PACT Zollverein (Performing Arts Choreographisches Zentrum NRW Tanzlandschaft Ruhr), which promotes dance and performance as independent art forms regionally, nationally and internationally, have become nationwide cultural institutions. (Literature: zollverein-de 2021) Bring a piece of the Ruhr home into your garden, in front of the drinking hall, in the allotment garden or in front of the football pitch at the clubhouse. We manufacture this object in our own forge, so that we can also realise special designs and wishes. Of course we can also make special designs or special wishes. In order to meet our demands for sustainability and resource efficiency, we have always consciously chosen steel as the material for our work. Steel is durable and multi-recyclable, which is one of its key advantages. It can be melted down and reused as often as required, without its properties being impaired or lost. No other construction material offers this in this form. Materials used: Rusted sheet steel. Size of Conveyor scaffold: Width 145 cm Depth 50 cm Height 145 cm with 3 mm material thickness.
