About the Item
This unique, original ceramic artwork by Jared FitzGerald is the perfect blend of a refined antique, Eastern look merged with a Contemporary, Western aesthetic and brush work. The form is somewhat self referential, as the artist wanted to show where the bottom piece and top piece of the urn were co-joined, as if to explain the artistic throwing/ firing process. The stylized landscape draws the viewer all around the 360-degree painting, which has gorgeous intricacies and variations of the nature scenes all throughout. The larger scale of the work combined with the radiating blue and white hues of the piece give it a bold presence in any interior.

- MetamorphosisBy Jared FitzgeraldLocated in Southampton, NY“Metamorphosis” is a unique over-glaze Chinese porcelain pot by renowned ceramist and painter, Jared FitzGerald. Blowing in the wind. The wind crosses to the mountain and loops lazily in circles in the blue sky. “Metamorphosis” is part of a new series from Fitzgerald’s studios in Jingdezhen, China. This series uses over-glaze, a new ceramic firing technique that diverges from Fitzgerald’s previous ceramic practice, which used the traditional under-glaze technique with blue and white colors. Over-glaze allows FitzGerald to paint with a range of colors; unlike with other glaze techniques, such as under- or middle-glaze, over-glaze allows FitzGerald to paint onto an already fired ceramic panel, so there is no serious change in the color of the pigments. This is a special technique which allows the artist to mix Chinese painting techniques with western techniques derived from oil painting. Over-glaze decoration is considered one of the most important modern glaze techniques in Jingdezhen now. The traditional overglaze decorative colors in Jingdezhen include Gucai (antique colors...Category

- Swan SongBy Jared FitzgeraldLocated in Southampton, NY“Swan Song” is a unique over-glaze Chinese porcelain pot by renowned ceramist and painter, Jared FitzGerald. The turquoise blue colors and willfully rounded shapes gives “Swan Song” an aquatic theme, while the red designs nestled amongst the blue undergrowth gives the pot a fantastical element. “Swan Song” is part of a new series from Fitzgerald’s studios in Jingdezhen, China.
