Norman Mercer (American, 1916-2007) Purple Cast Acrylic Sculpture. The amethyst diamond shaped sculpture is mounted on a beveled acrylic base. Cast with a repeating geometric pattern. In the back center of the step formed center circle, is a holder for mounting an optional battery powered light source. The holder in the center is mounted with double sided tape and is easily removed if desired. Measures 18 inches high, 18.5 inches wide. In very good condition. Mercer created sculptures using a light source in the early 1990's. Acquired from the 33 Ocean Avenue East Hampton, New York estate of artist, sculptor Norman Mercer (1916-2007) and Carol M. Mercer. The sprawling Norman Mercer 11 million dollar estate was designed by modern architect Robert A. M. Stern. Letter of authentication from the estate of Carol M. Mercer's assistant Debbie Mansir will be included. Also included is a Norman Mercer Sculpture exhibition catalog and photos of the interior and exterior of the Norman Mercer - East Hampton estate. Measures 18 inches high, 18.5 inches wide. In very good condition.
