This ethereal installation titled Light Support, installed at a private residence, consists of four rectangular polycarbonate panels that have been coated with Manganni's signature dichroic vinyl to reflect and refract light. Like all of Manganni’s work, the colors shift all day long depending on ambient light. On one side of the piece, a curved bright yellow to orange light emanates outwards onto the white picket fence in the early afternoon. In the evening of a bring summer day, green and aqua hues splay across the front lawn. Even on cloudy days, the porch becomes a blank canvas for dancing rays of colored light.
Marcus Manganni’s work brings a unique elegance to Newtonian physics. When asked about the inspiration for this piece, he stated, “Light Support lives in between two Ionic columns, allowing the sculpture to explore, reinform, and liberate the classical structures."
