John Goodman
Sculpture: Head No 1, 2017

2017

About the Item

Contemporary head sculpture from John Goodman, whose magnetic sculptures, drawings and paintings are a dichotomy of understated minimalism conveying a subtle, but evident smoldering energy. In 'Head No 1, 2017' the artist uses wax and wood, to form an abstracted human head mounted to a found block and fragmented sticks of wood. The moody and provocative sculpture pulls strongly toward abstraction. Clearly, Bay Area influences are present in the work of John Goodman, particularly that of Nathan Oliveira, who the artist was privileged to have had as his mentor. Goodman's sculptures, drawings and paintings has been exhibited coast to coast, at International Art Fairs, and his work is collected worldwide. 16 x 3 1/2 x 5 inches. A provocative, sophisticated and magnetic work of art.
