"Tenitic Necklace Reg " a contemporary, fine gauge stainless steel necklace
Located in Morgan Hill, CA
Crafted by the brilliant mind of Taos, New Mexico based jeweler, Julie Lake. This layered hexagonal necklace looks both modern and delicate. Made from incredibly strong spring tempered and fuse welded stainless steel. Ultra reflective surface interacts with the light as the body moves. This piece is hypoallergenic and non-tarnishing making it the perfect necklace for everyone. Bio Julie Lake hand fabricates her metal work exclusively from a spring tempered, fine gauge stainless steel. She uses an arc welding process at precise settings to join the metal by melting and fusing it together at the tiny joints. The nature of this stainless steel, along with the welding process, allows Lake to create complex and visually fragile, yet deceptively strong forms with very small diameter wires. Although the welding of steel is typically regarded as an industrial process, Lake likens her technique to the domestic act of sewing or knitting. By way of welding, she methodically and repetitively stitches together the threads of stainless steel which accumulate into larger forms. Her decision to only create with this very specific material is quite minimalistic, but Lake engages with the material with multidisciplinary intent. Her work spans from large scale art installation, to design-driven functional items, to wearable and decorative pieces rooted in fine craft. This multidisciplinary approach allows the individual pieces to cross-pollinate with and inform each other. Lake's training as a maker started at a very young age. Her father, Ron Lake, is a machinist who went on to establish a career creating fine folding knives...

Frozen Falls, Long Hanging Sculpture of Torch-Worked Glass in Chain Maille Links
Located in Kent, CT
This long hanging sculpture by David Licata is composed of square links of clear and white torch-worked borosilicate glass. The square links are joined together in a Japanese four-to-one chain maille pattern, cascading downward from three clear glass tubes suspended from the ceiling by clear monofilament wire. The result is an ethereal, delicate work that casts dynamic shadows on its surroundings and glistens in light. Transforming rods of borosilicate glass with fire, David Licata uses a variety of gas torches to pull, stripe, blend, twist and bend glass into ornate links which are transformed into an elaborate wall sculptures of undulating glass. Licata who is exceptionally knowledgeable and adept at creating historic chaine maille patterns often bases his contemporary artwork in that tradition. Licata’s sculptures explore the ideas of protection inherant in chain maille and linked fencing in contradiction to the implicit fragility of glass. Variously transparent and opaque, solid and ephemeral, his glass sculptures are solid forms and also cast shadows that are fugitive and integral parts of the artwork. David Licata’s work ranges from cascading glass wall sculptures to wearable chain maille. A devoted naturalist, he is inspired by hiking and the outdoors. The artist works with notions of the fragility, strength, vanity, and protection by using traditional metalsmithing techniques in the intricate torch-worked glass. David Licata is a graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art where he earned his MFA in Metalsmithing and of SUNY New Paltz where he earned his BFA in Sculpture and BS in Art Education. Licata’s artwork has been exhibited at SOFA (The Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design fair) NY, SOFA Chicago, Glass Weekend, Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center, Millville, NJ, Talente Internationale Handwerksmesse, Munich Germany and The Glass Art Society Conference and Fashion Show in Murano, Italy. The artist exhibits and has executed numerous site-specific commissions with Kenise Barnes...

Andy Warhol Flowers Bearbrick 400% Companion (Warhol BE@RBRICK 400%)
Located in NEW YORK, NY
Andy Warhol Flowers Bearbrick Vinyl Figures: Set of two (400% & 100%): A unique, timeless Andy Warhol Flowers collectible trademarked & licensed by the Estate of Andy Warhol. The partnered collectible reveals Warhol's iconic Flowers imagery wrapping the figure in its entirety. Housed in a standout Warhol Flowers collectors' box. Medium: Vinyl Figurine. Set of two figurines. Dimensions of larger piece: 11 x 5 inches. Condition: New in its original packaging. Warhol foundation trademark featured on lower left of reverse. Published by Medicom from a sold out edition of unknown. Further Background: BE@RBRICKs are a form of collectible toy that resemble a cross between LEGO and well, a bear. These block-style figurines boast teddy bear-style heads that have become an integral pillar of the collectible toy scene. In fact, it wouldn’t be so far-fetched to say that it almost single-handedly carved out the fad of toy collecting in modern times, treading the very fine line between toy and art. Since its inception, BE@RBRICKs have become one of the most recognizable characters in the world, and some of the most sought after. Please note exact patterns may vary. Further Background: The idea to paint flowers as the subject of a major series was apparently suggested to Warhol by Henry Geldzahler, then curator at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. To some degree, the pictures belong to a long art historical tradition of still-life painting. "With the Flowers, Andy was just trying a different subject matter. In a funny way, he was kind of repeating the history of art. It was like, now we're doing my Flower period! Like Monet's water lillies, Van Gogh...

"Ventalglio Necklace " a contemporary, fine gauge stainless steel necklace
Located in Morgan Hill, CA
Crafted by the brilliant mind of New Mexico based jeweler, Julie Lake. The Ventaglio Necklace is a visually delicate, yet deceptively strong, complex architectural necklace. Featuring layers of interwoven three-dimensional geometric links, created from highly polished stainless steel wire. This piece is best worn against bare skin or dark-colored clothing, which allows the piece to create contrast with the high polish and displays the intricacy of the design. Hook can clasp onto any of the end links, allowing adjustment from 19.5"–22"L. Knot #76 ed 8/12
Located in Napa, CA
The sculptures of Damon Hyldreth appear both static and fluid, rigid and flexible, strong and smooth, effectively blurring the line between nature and structure. By crafting organic forms from an obviously man-made metal, Hyldreth creates a unique symbiosis between nature and structure, unifying the sculpture and the surroundings through the free-flowing energy and architecture of his artworks. Keeping in mind the intimate connection between artists and their tools, Hyldreth studies the potential energies of his metals and coaxes out exquisite forms and natural power. Using mainly stainless steel, as well as the occasional bronze and Cor-ten steel, Hyldreth allows his materials to dictate their final shape and become an ultimate collaboration between man and matter. The evocative forms subliminally draw the audience in, giving every viewer a deeply personal experience. In 2004 Damon received his BFA in Sculpture from San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA. Public and private installations of Hyldreth’s work include the town of Palm Desert, CA, the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, The W Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, Trump Hollywood, Hollywood, FL Neiman Marcus, Houston, TX, Soffitel Hotel, Los Angeles, CA and the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza...

Nude, Abstract and Figurative Sculptures for Sale

The history of sculpture as we know it is believed to have origins in Ancient Greece, while small sculptural carvings are among the most common examples of prehistoric art. In short, sculpture as a fine art has been with us forever. A powerful three-dimensional means of creative expression, sculpture has long been most frequently associated with religion — consider the limestone Great Sphinx in Giza, Egypt — while the tradition of collecting sculpture, which has also been traced back to Greece as well as to China, far precedes the emergence of museums.

Technique and materials in sculpture have changed over time. Stone sculpture, which essentially began as images carved into cave walls, is as old as human civilization itself. The majority of surviving sculpted works from ancient cultures are stone. Traditionally, this material and pottery as well as metalbronze in particular — were among the most common materials associated with this field of visual art. Artists have long sought new ways and materials in order to make sculptures and express their ideas. Material, after all, is the vehicle through which artists express themselves, or at least work out the problems knocking around in their heads. It also allows them to push the boundaries of form, subverting our expectations and upending convention. As an influential sculptor as much as he was a revolutionary painter and printmaker, Pablo Picasso worked with everything from wire to wood to bicycle seats.

If you are a lover of art and antiques or are thinking of bringing a work of sculpture into your home for the first time, there are several details to keep in mind. As with all other works of art, think about what you like. What speaks to you? Visit local galleries and museums. Take in works of public art and art fairs when you can and find out what kind of sculpture you like. When you’ve come to a decision about a specific work, try to find out all you can about the piece, and if you’re not buying from a sculptor directly, work with an art expert to confirm the work’s authenticity.

And when you bring your sculpture home, remember: No matter how big or small your new addition is, it will make a statement in your space. Large- and even medium-sized sculptures can be heavy, so hire some professional art handlers as necessary and find a good place in your home for your piece. Whether you’re installing a towering new figurative sculpture — a colorful character by KAWS or hyperreal work by Carole A. Feuerman, perhaps — or an abstract work by Won Lee, you’ll want the sculpture to be safe from being knocked over. (You’ll find that most sculptures should be displayed at eye level, while some large busts look best from below.)
