About the Item
The women in this serigraph are drawn with grace and balance. The paper used is a cotton and linen blend with a bronze tint for the drawing. The artist was influenced by DaVinci's work. This serigraph is unframed.
Juan Maldonado produced more than 400 portraits on commission, and focused his work on portraiture. Influenced by the Renaissance masters, especially Leonardo Da Vinci, Maldonado was a pivotal part of the Nuyorican art movement in the 1970s. While he apprenticed in Europe, and studied at the University of Perugia, Italy, he developed his career in NYC where he mentored and taught young artists. Maldonado died in Puerto Rico in December 2016.
