Description: c. 1882 Mezzotint with stipple and etching on chine colle. After 1878 painting by Sir John Everett Millais R.A (1829-1896); engraved by Thomas Oldhams Barlow R.A. (1824-1889), an English mezzotint engraver who was best known for popularizing the works of John Phillip and John Everett Millais. Taken from Sir Walter Scott’s novel of the same name, this image portrays the scene where the Edgar, Master of Ravenswood, has just rescued the daughter of his enemy Lucy Ashton from a wild bull.
