About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “Looking for a Signal” is a 14 x 22 inch predominately blue, white, and orange mixed media unique inkjet print diptych. Digital “negatives” of an orange leafless tree and a blue lilac satellite dish are layered onto the first print of this pair. A thin floral band of ethereal pink and green act as a border along the left side of the print. The second print which features a “negative” of a blue grey dandelion is layered with washes of white and blue and has a vivid contrasting red house on the bottom of the composition. Both prints were printed with an Epson inkjet printer onto 11 x 14 inch Red River 60lb. Polar Matte photo paper. After the initial printing both prints were coated with platinum white block ink and then inkjet printed a second time. The multiple layers appear to vibrate and create subtle a subtle texture. This diptych is part of deGrandpre’s “Print, Paint, Print, Repeat” series.
Patty deGrandpre embraces technology and enjoys using scanned and digital imagery in combination with traditional printmaking techniques. She prints on smooth surfaces such as photo paper and drafting film. The ink sits on top of the media creating greater contrast.
Patty deGrandpre is a Massachusetts based artist. She has participated in many exhibitions both on local and national levels. She has been featured in a number of periodicals and has received multiple awards for both fine art and printmaking. Patty DeGrandpre is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
