Color etching and aquatint on wove paper by Slovenia-born Austrian artist Luigi Kasimir (1881-1962). Kasimir was a master printer of color etchings, being a pioneer of the "à la poupée" technique using multiple plates for different colors, sometimes using up to six separate plates per print. He is best known for his finely detailed depictions of landscapes, street scenes, and architectural landmarks monuments throughout Europe and North America. His work can be found in the collections of many galleries and museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
