Signed, dated and annotated 'Edition 100' in pencil. Housed in a 17.5 x 21-inch archival mat, suitable for framing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto) is one of the three bridges crossing the Canale Grande. It connects the districts of San Polo and San Marco. Built in 1591, it consists of two rows of shops and three footpaths. The shops only face the middle way, and sell fruits, vegetables and all kinds of tourist stuff. The Rialto Bridge is located about 500 meters north of Saint Mark's Square. He used sewing needles and magnifying glasses to get a fine level of detail. A member of many printmaking societies, Arms served as president of the American Society of Graphic Artists. An educator, Arms wrote the Handbook of Print Making and Print Makers (1934) and did numerous demonstrations and lectures. Arms was elected into the National Academy of Design as an Associate member in 1930, and became a full member in 1933.

    Resist ground etching and engraving on cream wove paper, 22 x 39 inches (558 x 990 mm), full margins. Signed, titled, dated, and numbered 27/160 in pencil, lower margin. With the blindstamp of the printer, Robert E. Townsend, in the lower left margin. A beautiful, richly inked impression of this highly detailed, large image. In very good condition with minor mat tone, extremely minor scattered light surface soiling, and one pin-point sized dot of brown discoloration on the lower left margin, recto, well outside of image area. [Milton 99]. Milton states that there is a metaphorical evolution at the root of his body of graphic work, and with Les Belles et la Bête, Before the Hunt, he found himself at a crossroads that he viewed as a sort of artistic adolescence, which he felt demanded a natural examination of mysteries of sexual awakening.
