About the Item

Highgrove by His Majesty King Charles III - Hand Signed Limited Edition Lithograph. Belgravia Gallery has been honoured to be associated with the artworks of His Majesty for over 25 years. Anna Hunter, the gallery owner, wrote a handwritten letter to the (then) Prince asking him if he would consider making signed lithographs from his beautiful watercolours which could be sold in aid of his charities. The gallery subsequently worked with the Prince for over 10 years publishing some 18 different editions and raising over £ 4 million for the Prince’s Charitable Foundation. Lithographs were made from HIs Majesty's original watercolours under the guidance of Stanley Jones – a celebrated printmaker who had previously worked with Henry Moore for 30 years, and with Elizabeth Frink, David Hockney and others. Each one is hand-signed. His Majesty lived at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire since the early 1980s when he was The Prince of Wales. He had painted views of it and the surrounding gardens throughout the seasons. This picture contrasts the freely painted trees and a field in front of the house with the carefully observed classical proportions of the architecture. An elegant cedar tree towers behind the house. “Highgrove is still very much my own garden, and so, I feel enormously fortunate to have had the opportunity, while in this life, to contribute to what I hope has been the enhancement of one small corner of this ancient land”. Quote from 'HRH The Prince of Wales, The Garden at Highgrove'
