Chromolithograph of drawing by Henry Alexander Ogden (1856-1936), an American illustrator who contributed to numerous newspapers and magazines. Known for depicting historical and military subjects, his most significant body of work was "Uniforms of the United States Army" commissioned by the Quarter-Master General's Department of the U.S. Army. The first section of plates published between 1890-1907 covered uniforms from 1774-1889. After 1907, subsequent plates covered uniform designs to 1907.
