This lithograph by German Perez shows a figure holding onto a red house that has been tied with a colorful rope. The narrative of the print focuses on holding onto your possessions during one of the many hurricanes that visit the Dominican Republic, where the artist is from, and other Caribbean countries. On the top red background two denuded palm trees stand. On the bottom is the agitated ocean in blues and black. This is a limited edition (3 of 50), sold unframed, and signed by the artist.
Born in the Dominican Republic, German Perez has been called the Marc Chagall of the Caribbean. His work is characterized by vibrant colors, symbolist images and fantasy story-telling. Perez has exhibited worldwide, and is featured in international collections, especially in private collections of famous individuals. He lives and works in New York City.
