CURRIER and IVES FREEDOM TO THE SLAVES, - Proclaimed January 1st 1863 by Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States "Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land unto All the Inhabitants Thereof", ca 1863 (C. 2137; G. 2311) Lithograph, Publ. by Currier & Ives 152 Nassau St, NY. 12 1/2 x 8 5/8 inches including title. One of several images celebrating the Emancipation Proclamation freeing the slaves on January 1, 1863. Interesting to note the presence of Native Americans Indians in the background looking on. Shackles below the figures. Fair condition, backed with japan, some repaired tears in left and right margins extending slightly into the image. African Americans, Blacks, Indians, Slavery, Abraham Lincoln, Civil War, Americana
