About the Item

Image dimensions: 32.5 x 43.5 cm. Carri con carico di Carbone is a beautiful original black and white etching on paper, realized in 1831 by the Italian artist Bartolomeo Pinelli. Title, author and date reported on lower margin. This original print describes two wagons loaded with coal and pulled by powerful oxen. With an excellent inking and lifetime impressions, this is an old master's artwork with a sure and rapid line representing a common scene in XIX century, with documentary importance, as usual in the Pinelli's artwork. In excellent conditions, as good as new. Bartolomeo Pinelli (Rome, 1781 - Rome, 1835) The Italian engraver, painter and ceramist, was an extremely prolific graphic artist: it wasestimated that he produced about four thousand engravings and ten thousand drawings. In his prints he illustrated the customs of Italian peoples, the great masterpieces of literature: Virgil, Dante, Tasso, Ariosto, Cervantes, Manzoni, and subjects of Roman, Greek, Napoleonic history, etc. The most common theme in general is Rome, its inhabitants, its monuments, the ancient city and its contemporary city. His work as an illustrator has, in addition to the intrinsic artistic value, a significant documentary meaning for the ethnography of Rome, Italy and Switzerland. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork.
