About the Item
Erotic Scene is a fun and pleasant drypoint realized by the French painter, illustrator, and writer Amandine Doré around the mid-20th century.
The state of preservation is very good, although the paper is slightly yellowed and has a tiny dark stain on the higher left margin. The print belongs to a series of erotic illustrations that the artist realized for many books, from classics to erotic literature and poetry.
This is a lovely and humorous artwork with two female figures in erotic attitudes.
Amandine Doré (Paris, 1912-2011) is one of the pseudonyms of Odette Amandine Bonne, who signed also as “Aurèa” or “Madame”, according to the type of subject matter of her artworks.
Amandine was a French painter, illustrator, and writer. Her production varied from erotic to travel illustrations. With her fascinating drawings, she illustrated the classics of erotic literature, books of poetry, magazines, and most of her husband’s books (the Belgian author T’Serstevens, with whom she often travelled).
