"The White Horse" 48" x 48" (also available in size 60" x 60") is a contemporary, large, oversized, Giclee animal print on canvas of a white horse. The background has a weathered, distressed look with warm and cool tones of neutrals. Our Giclee prints are produced on high-quality canvas with archival ink, capturing the unique texture & intricate charcoal drawing lines with remarkably crisp detail, limited edition of 95.  Each canvas print is unframed and ships rolled in a mailing tube. It is a combination of oil, unique texture, charcoal, pencil, ink, poetry & features a striking drawing of man's true best friend. For about 30 years now, Andre Kohn is still inspired by the works of Renaissance masters, some including Raphael, Michelangelo, & Da Vinci. While at the University of Moscow, he studied the paintings of great masters and was enamored with their drawing skills for many reasons. Andre loved to see the leftover "search lines" and was intrigued by the monochromatic nature, the light transparent character, and, most of all, feeling the sense of discovery. With his already well-trained eye, he could actually "see" how the drawings developed and how he could follow the creative process to discover and create his signature look. All these characteristics are present in Andre's brilliantly executed drawings, where a connoisseur could easily detect the master's influence. Andre Kohn rarely uses the eraser; and on purpose, leaving his "search lines" visible to the viewer and firmly believes it makes the drawings more intriguing. By doing so, he also invites the viewer to participate in his very own creative process, letting in on the sense of discovery. That's exactly what his collectors find truly unique, often not hesitating long before acquiring them for their private collections. Besides love and affinity for the human figure, Andre has always been intrigued by the man's best friend - the horse. Equine themes became his genuine passion in 1992 when he had a show in Bulgaria and met a fellow artist who was his sponsor. "Antony Sofev's execution in charcoal and understanding the glorious freedom of this loving animal was so deep and profound. I can not help myself, but learn everything I could about the equine art, " says Andre Kohn. Andre was inspired to visit ranches & connect with horse lovers everywhere he traveled. He has completed numerous commissions for ranch owners in the southeast and later brought his passion to the US's west coast, exhibiting his work at the International Museum of the Horse in Lexington, Kentucky. Using the large format, Andre Kohn expresses his love, passion, and knowledge for horses by combining intriguing texture and dynamic & bold charcoal strokes with a contemporary approach, remaining loyal to the timeless techniques of the masters.
