Untitled, for "XXe Siècle (20th C.)" magazine is an original color lithograph by Latin American artist Wifredo Lam. It depicts a variety of surreal and abstract lines and figures in red, purple, and blue on a light blue background. 12 1/4" x 9 1/4" art 22" x 18 7/8" frame Wifredo Lam was a Cuban artist who sought to portray and revive he Afro-Cuban spirit and culture. His unique style featured hybrid figures with surreal influences. Lam studied under the same teacher as Salvador Dali and was profoundly interested in the nonconformist tendencies of Dali and his fellow students. His work is often dark and draws imagery from the "primitive" cultures that also fascinated Pablo Picasso. He also found inspiration in Cubism and Automatism.
