Rafael Bogarin studied in Caracas at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas Cristóbal Rojas, where he specialized in lithography and etching. Between 1970 and 1992, he lived in New York, where he became an expert in screen printing, exploring different techniques and processes at the same time. I travel through South America teaching and learning from native cultures. He created the Museo Vial in El Tigre, in 1982, which exhibited works of great international masters in the public space. Later I make other similar works between Colombia and Venezuela. Later he worked in the creation and realization of the Museum of Open-Air Murals.
His work focuses on abstraction, with purity of forms and elements. In addition to working in serigraphy, engraving and lithography, he has developed sculptural works in which he brings to the space the distinctive elements of his pictorial discourse.
His works are part of important collections, such as the Cisneros Collection, the Corcoran Gallery, in Washington, the National Art Gallery of Venezuela, the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), in New York, the Costa Rican Art Museum, the Museum of Israel, in Tel Aviv, The Jesus Soto Museum of Modern Art, the collection of the OAS headquarters, in Washington and the University of Texas.
