Biomorphic Abstract is an original hand drawn lithograph by the Indian-American artist Arun Bose, hand printed using traditional lithography techniques on archival Arches paper 100% acid free. - pastel opaque colors of white, light yellow, orange, and lavender on a deep black background. Biomorphic Abstract is a drawing of a surrealist nature form evoking an imaginary creature floating in the dark. Superb craftsmanship by a master printmaker Arun Bose. Print size - 30 x 22 inches, unframed, full bleed image, pencil signed by Arun Bose Edition size - 60 Year published - 1975 Arun Bose, born 1934 in Dacca , now Bangladesh, died 2007 in New York was a painter and a master printmaker, his wide-ranging body of work was rooted in remembrances of his beloved city of Kolkata. He exhibited around the world, and his works are featured in several museums and art collections. He received his art education at the Government College of Art & Craft Kolkata, India; the Ecole Superieur des BeauxArts, Paris -under a French government scholarship where he also studied printmaking with Stanley William Hayter at the prestigious Atelier 17; and Pratt Graphic Center, Manhattan, NY. At that time, 1968, he received the John D. Rockefeller, III Fellowship. He was proud to have been a member of the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, NYC. As noted by the Kolkata newspaper The Telegraph - at the time of his retrospective exhibition in 2004 -Arun Bose's legacy as artist and teacher, his very own art expression, will remain that of "A New Yorker with Bengal in his canvas".

Edition size - 225, plus proofs Year - 1977 About the artist- Yona Lotan (1926-1998) Jewish engineer and painter was born in Lithuania. His family moved to Tel-Aviv, Palestine in 1936. He served as a high-ranking officer in the Israeli Army and fought in the War of Independence. In 1959 Yona Lotan began painting; he's considered a self-taught, outsider artist. Lotan always had the unquenchable desire to draw. His one-man shows in Israel and Geneva were so successful that he left the army, sold all his belongings and moved to Paris in 1960 in order to devote his life to painting. His art was vibrant and he became well known, not only in Europe, but also in the United States. In 1965 he won the coveted Prize of Foreign Painting given by the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris. Along with Maryan, Avigdor Arikha, Mordechai Ardon and Yaacov Agam. he was part of a group of Jewish emigre artists who worked in Paris. Paintings of Lotan are contained in the collections of: Musee National d'Art Modern, Paris, Pompidou Center, Paris Musee Municipal d'Art Modern, Paris. Museum Boymans, Rotterdam.
